I'm Mathias, a lifelong sports fanatic that decided to dedicate and share this passion with people around the Northern Beaches in Sydney, the CBD and remotely via my Orbis Coaching app. As a former elite athlete and with over 5 years experience, I can help you get to those goals, whatever they might be.
I have a simple no BS approach to training. We start by understanding your needs and setting (or confirming) your goal, understand your training preferences and any injuries or other limitations. Based on this I will develop tough but fun workouts, to challenge you and get those goals smashed.
My sports past includes being part of the Chilean National Mountain Biking Team, a black belt in Karate, tennis, soccer, running, triathlon, surfing and swimming.
I hold Certificates III and IV in Fitness, Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach, Certified Rehab Trainer, Level 2 Functional Movement Systems accredited, Australian Institute of Sport Coaching Principles and Senior First Aid Certificate, and am registered with
Before switching to being a Fitness Coach, I worked in corporate roles, applying my engineering and MBA degrees in marketing and sales positions. I currently also work as a Life and Mindset Coach for people wanting to make changes in their life beyond only fitness on www.mathiaswitt.com .
I came across Orbis Coaching when looking for a strength and conditioning coach that also understands the demands of competitive marathon mountain biking at the highest level. I trained under Mathias' guidance for over a year, in particular towards getting my strength in peak shape for the 2017 Cape Epic. He developed a periodised training program that didn't interfere with my cycling training and racing calendar, while still challenging me and getting the results we had set out when planning the season.
His understanding of strength for an endurance athlete is excellent, focusing on the movements relevant to my sport, to both improve my performance but also prevent injuries and imbalances. I would recommend him to anybody who wants a dedicated and understanding strength coach.

I worked with Mathias in 2016 to improve my strength leading up to competing in the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships. I’ve been working with Mathias since mid 2016 upon high recommendation from a fellow rider, as I wanted to improve my strength and technical ability on the bike, as well as address a bone density issue that had started to creep up given I was now involved in a non-weight bearing sport. From the very beginning I have enjoyed the individual sessions – they are challenging yet fun and Mathias has been really great in helping me develop and refine my technique. I can complete the program he crafts for me with confidence that I won’t hurt myself, as well as being able to actively see my progression and development of in strength both in the gym and on the bike. Each session is slightly different and easily completed with a simple App, which keeps it interesting and engaging and I really appreciate the way he plans my schedule based on my priorities with racing (and life), which means I am fresh when I need to be. The results speak for themselves – I am far stronger which translates into both speed and an ability to handle difficult or technical terrain on the mountain bike. I’ve been a trail runner for the past 35 years and recently reached the point where I was forced to stop running due to increasing knee pain. I was referred to Mathias and we started regular training sessions to see whether he could help with the pain, and the results have totally exceeded my expectations. Mathias tailors each session so that they incorporate the right amount of strength, balance and agility exercises and stretches, and not only am I running with no knee pain at all, my distances and times are better than ever.
